About the author:
Bram Stoker (born Abraham Stoker, 1847–1912) was an Irish author best known for writing the classic Gothic horror novel Dracula. His creation of the iconic Count Dracula helped define modern vampire mythology and cemented his legacy as one of the most influential writers in horror literature.

Stoker was born on November 8, 1847, in Clontarf, near Dublin, Ireland. As a child, he suffered from a mysterious illness that left him bedridden for several years, during which he developed a love for reading and storytelling. He later studied mathematics at Trinity College Dublin, where he also became involved in theatre and journalism.

In 1878, Stoker married Florence Balcombe, and the couple moved to London, where he began working as the personal assistant and business manager to famed actor Sir Henry Irving. Stoker spent nearly three decades managing London’s Lyceum Theatre, a role that connected him with prominent literary and cultural figures of the day.

His masterpiece, Dracula, was published in 1897. The novel, presented as a series of journal entries and letters, tells the story of the vampire Count Dracula’s attempt to move from Transylvania to England. Though not an instant bestseller, the book gradually gained recognition and became a cornerstone of horror fiction, inspiring countless adaptations in film, television, and literature.

Stoker wrote several other novels and short stories, many of them with supernatural or adventure themes, but none achieved the enduring fame of Dracula. He died on April 20, 1912, in London.

Today, Bram Stoker is celebrated as a foundational figure in horror fiction, with Dracula still widely read and studied over a century after its publication.
