Graham Masterton (born January 16, 1946, in Edinburgh, Scotland) is a British author renowned for his work in horror fiction, as well as thrillers, historical sagas, and crime novels. Over a career spanning several decades, Masterton has become one of the most versatile and internationally recognised writers in the genre.
He began his professional life as a magazine editor, including a stint as editor of Penthouse in the UK. His debut horror novel, The Manitou (1976), was a breakout success, blending Native American mythology with supernatural horror. The book became a bestseller and was later adapted into a film starring Tony Curtis. It also marked the beginning of a long-running series that continues to attract fans worldwide.
Masterton quickly established a reputation for vivid storytelling, gruesome imagery, and a fearless approach to the macabre. His other popular horror titles include The Djinn, Charnel House, Night Warriors, and Prey, many of which explore global mythologies and ancient curses brought into modern settings.
