Jan Burke is an American author best known for her crime thrillers and suspense novels, particularly the popular series featuring investigative journalist Irene Kelly. Born in Texas and raised in Southern California, Burke worked in journalism and public relations before turning to fiction writing, experiences that shaped the realistic and fast-paced style of her novels.
Her debut novel, Goodnight, Irene (1993), introduced readers to Irene Kelly, a strong-willed reporter drawn into dangerous investigations. The book was nominated for an Edgar Award and began a long-running, well-received series that includes titles such as Hocus, Bones, and Bloodlines.
