About the author:
John Gwynne is a British fantasy author renowned for his gripping, character-driven epics set in richly imagined worlds. He burst onto the fantasy scene with his debut novel Malice in 2012, the first book in the acclaimed The Faithful and the Fallen series. Known for its visceral combat, heartfelt emotion, and compelling moral complexity, the series quickly earned Gwynne a loyal following and critical praise.
Building on that success, Gwynne returned to the Banished Lands with Of Blood and Bone, a sequel trilogy set generations later. More recently, he launched The Bloodsworn Saga, beginning with The Shadow of the Gods in 2021—a Norse-inspired fantasy filled with monsters, gods, and fierce battles that showcases his evolution as a storyteller.
A former university lecturer with a background in English and history, Gwynne combines scholarly insight with a deep passion for medieval warfare, mythology, and storytelling. He is also a member of a Viking reenactment group, which adds authentic detail to his battle scenes and world-building.
John lives in East Sussex with his wife, children, and a host of animals, including dogs he often features on social media. When not writing, he enjoys reenactment, reading, and spending time with his family.
