John Jackson Miller is an American author and comic book writer best known for his work in the Star Wars, Star Trek, and Halo universes. With a background in journalism and comics editing, Miller has become a respected figure in science fiction for his detailed world-building and character-driven storytelling.

Miller began his career as an editor for comic book industry magazines like Comics Buyer’s Guide, before moving into writing full-time. He first gained major attention in the Star Wars universe with the comic series Knights of the Old Republic (2006–2010), set thousands of years before the films. The series became a fan favourite for its original characters and complex plots.

He then transitioned into novels, writing Star Wars: Knight Errant and the bestselling Star Wars: Kenobi (2013), which won praise for its deep character study of Obi-Wan in exile. He also wrote A New Dawn (2014), which served as the launch novel for the new Disney-era Star Wars canon, introducing characters from the Rebels TV series.

Beyond Star Wars, Miller has written multiple Star Trek novels—including The Enterprise War and Die Standing—and has contributed to other franchises like Halo and Mass Effect.

Known for combining action with thoughtful moral questions, Miller’s work stands out for its balance of fan-friendly storytelling and emotional depth. He also maintains a popular blog and website dedicated to comics history and industry analysis.

Miller lives in Wisconsin and continues to write across books, comics, and screen tie-ins, building on his passion for science fiction and storytelling.
