About the author:
Karin Slaughter is a bestselling American author known for her dark, emotionally intense crime novels featuring strong female protagonists, complex plots, and vivid psychological detail. Her work often explores themes of trauma, justice, gender, and the lasting effects of violence, earning her a loyal international readership.

Born on January 6, 1971, in Georgia, USA, Slaughter grew up in a small Southern town—an environment that later provided the gritty, richly drawn backdrops for many of her novels. She began writing at an early age and published her debut novel, Blindsighted, in 2001. It introduced Dr. Sara Linton, a pediatrician and part-time coroner in the fictional town of Grant County.

Slaughter followed up with several more Grant County novels before launching the Will Trent series in 2006, centred on a Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent with a troubled past and a brilliant mind for solving crimes. Eventually, she merged the Grant County and Will Trent series, allowing beloved characters like Sara Linton and Will Trent to intersect in later books.

Her standalone novels, including Pretty Girls (2015), The Good Daughter (2017), and False Witness (2021), have also garnered critical acclaim for their emotional depth and harrowing depictions of crime and survival.

Slaughter’s books have sold over 40 million copies worldwide and have been translated into dozens of languages. In 2023, the Will Trent TV series premiered on ABC, further expanding her audience.

Karin Slaughter is also a passionate advocate for libraries and literacy. She founded the Save the Libraries campaign to raise awareness and funds for public library systems in the U.S.

She lives in Atlanta, Georgia, and continues to write both series and standalone novels, cementing her reputation as one of the leading voices in modern crime fiction.
