About the author:
Stephenie Meyer is a best-selling American author whose debut novel Twilight (2005) launched one of the most successful young adult franchises in publishing history. Born in Hartford, Connecticut in 1973 and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Meyer graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in English literature. She had no formal writing experience prior to Twilight, which was inspired by a vivid dream and written in a matter of months.
The Twilight saga—comprised of Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn—tells the story of Bella Swan and her intense, supernatural romance with vampire Edward Cullen. The books became a global sensation, selling over 100 million copies worldwide and sparking a major film series starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. Meyer followed the saga with The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner and a reimagined version, Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined, as well as Midnight Sun in 2020, which retells the original story from Edward's perspective.
In addition to her YA work, Meyer has explored adult fiction with The Host (2008), a sci-fi romance adapted into a 2013 film, and The Chemist (2016), a suspense thriller. Her influence on modern YA literature and pop culture remains significant, particularly in popularising the paranormal romance genre.
